Surrey was the 2nd largest municipality in Metro Vancouver and British Columbia and was home to about 18.7% of the Regional District’s population in 2006.
There were 487 farms reported in Surrey in 2006. The City’s farm population is estimated to be 1,461 persons or 0.4% of Surrey’s total 2006 population (based on the BC average of 3 persons per farm). A similar calculation provincially sets the farm population at approximately 1.5% of B.C.’s total 2006 population.
