Class 3’s ‘design’ project

Next term our topic will be focussed around the title of ‘Designers’ and you will become designers in your own way through constructing models, prototypes and researching the design process. Task You should initially begin to research a designer — this could be a person or a company that produces something that you are interested in. For example, mobile telephones e.g. Apple, cars e.g. BMW, handbags e.g. Radley, Buildings e.g. designing a sky scraper or anything else in the world that you can think of to do with design. Think about what you like about these designs and why you have chosen them. You can record any information about these designers in your A5 booklet. You should then have a go at creating a prototype for a design of your choice — this could replicate something that already exists or be a prototype of something new and inventive. What should my project look like?  You must use the coloured card to research a designer or a design of something and to inform the reader about what you understand about this design. You may create your own cover and inserts, using either handwriting or by typing it.  You must create a prototype of a design e.g. handbag, car, building, mobile device. Points to remember  Remember sub-headings, captions and pictures will make your research look good!  You can handwrite or use the computer to complete your project.  Your project should be creative.  Your project is for display purposes in class 3.  Your project must look neat, tidy and be presentable! REMEMBER Your project is as short or as long as you make it! You should aim to spend at least 1 hour a week on it. If you have any problems or questions please come and talk to Mr Newstead. If you need to email any part of your project then please send this to [email protected] otherwise please prepare your project and bring it in to class by the deadline below.
