Save the Date! New Inspiration Fall Shop Hop– Sept. 15, 16, & 17! Get a group of friends together and enjoy learning something new at each shop. Three shops in all: Bittersweet in Pinconning, Park Bench in Midland, and Bayview Calico in AuGres. Each shop will feature new rulers, demos, and a free pattern. Passports will remain at $5.00 and will be available in July.

Row by Row 2016, begins June 21st. This years theme is Home Sweet Home. Our row and license plate gives honor to our home town of Pinconning. Where cheese is King! Our kit for the row will be $11.99 and our license plate is $4.99, while supplies last.

Summer Block of the Month: We will begin our summer applique quilt starting on June 14th. We decided on the Birdsong quilt which measures 65” x 65”. It’s a delightful little quilt, and sure to bring a smile every time you see it. During the first session Karen will teach you how to machine applique, and you will begin your first block. We have changed this program a little from our last class schedule. Once we made the quilt top we realized that you’ll need to have the entire kit with you. This helps with less waste in the fabric. We have also put together a fabric chart that will explain what fabrics were used in our sample, and are also included in the kit. The classroom will be open for those of you who are making this summer quilt on July 12th, and August 9th. Come for the day and work on the project. On September 13th Karen will meet up with all of you again and teach how to finish the curve blocks in the quilt. Bring your sewing machine (zig zag stitch/blanket stitch), all sewing supplies, and 1 roll of Soft Fuse. Cost: Kit $100, and pattern $23

Time: June 14th and Sept. 13th– 10:30-1:30

Mattie’s Funky Squares: This quilt block is constructed using two charm packs (5” squares), and strips of black and white fabrics. You can see this fun quilt hanging in the shop. Judy Schulz is the maker of this quilt and was willing to share it with us. This will be a quick demonstration on how to make the blocks. We’ll give you the instruction, and then you can make this fun quilt for yourself. Periwinkle Table Runner or Quilt: This fantastic pattern can be used to make numerous projects. Bring these items with you to class or just stay and watch the demo. Your favorite package of 2 1/2” mini charms, 80-2 1/2” x 3 1/2” rectangles of solid background fabric that coordinates with your charm pack, glue stick, 1/4 yard fabric for border, 1/3 yard fabric for binding, 3/4 yard fabric for backing, 1 pack of mini papers, 1 mini Kite template, sewing machine and supplies. Date: Thursday, June 23rd at 11:00 during Open Sew Free Demo! Farm Girl Vintage Friendship: This begins a new group for us at Bittersweet. The goal of the group is to get women together once a month for the next 1-2 years and work on this quilt, create new friendships and share some fabric. Now that does not say that it will take us that long to complete the quilt, it just depends on how many blocks we choose per month. At this time we will start out with only two, but that can change depending on the group. This is an intermediate class. In the first class we will go over the book, patterns, fabric choices, and explain the part about sharing fabric. You can also choose not to share fabric, not a problem. You’ll need to purchase the book before the first class. When you register please let us know if you already have the book or will be picking it up the first day. This gives us time to order what we need. This class will be offered during the morning from 10:30-12:30 or an evening class from 6-8 the last Tuesday of each month, unless there is a schedule conflict. Then a new date will be given prior to the next month. Instructor will be Tina. Date: Tuesday, July 26th is the start date Time: 10;30-12:30 or 6-8pm Fee:$25
