In class we are using 12wt Spaghetti and Fruitti threads and learning about different easy quilting patterns to use with our machine walking foot. These blocks will be put together as a quilt as you go project.
sewing machine and manual sewing machine Topstitch #14 needle ¼” foot for your machine Walking foot for your machine rotary cutter Rotary cutting mat 18” x 24” Seam ripper flat-head pins Sharp scissors for snipping thread Masking tape or labels Curved #1 safety pins or basting gun or 505 basting spray 6” x 24” or larger long ruler 10 ½” or larger square ruler 20” or 50 cm Freezer paper Chalk pencil for marking on dark fabric Double sided rinse away tape
FABRICS: 50 cm of two solid or tone on tone medium or dark fabrics for the front 1 meter or two 50 cm cuts of fabric for the reverse of the quilt – pick something that will “hide” thread tension issues perhaps, so a patterned fabric similar to the threads chosen. 1 meter fusible batting Sashing – pick this later depending on how large your project becomes Invisifil for bobbin thread – colour similar to the threads chosen and to blend with the reverse of the quilt blocks Selection of Spaghetti and Fruitti threads to strongly contrast with the front fabrics – perhaps 3 or 4
