NB. Enrolments in LGs require a commitment of a minimum of 1 marking period and any changes to enrolments in support must be made in writing and agreed by the school. Lessons are reviewed regularly at the end of each marking period with the view of adjusting to support our students as necessary and based on the recommendations from the necessary staff members at Collège du Léman. Should there be no communication from parents or new recommendations from the Learning Support department before the start of a new marking period, a “roll over” system is put in place and any existing support is continued into the new marking period.

PERSONAL LEARNING CLASSES & LEARNING GROUPS FOR SECONDARY STUDENTS
Collège du Léman offers Learning Support for students in Middle School and High School with mild to moderate learning differences. Students study in small groups with learning specialists selected for their expertise in their subject area and their experience working with students with learning difference. Progress is monitored closely, regularly and the provision is altered as necessary to suit the needs of the student. Collège du Léman meets both the Anglophone and Francophone school community expectations and provide an integrated service which allows students to achieve their potential.
Personal Learning Classes (PLC) We offer Personal Learning Classes in English and/or in Maths for students in grades 6,7,8 and IGCSE English and/or Maths for students in grade 9 who have an average or higher IQ ability level and a diagnosed specific learning difference for example dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia and ADD or ADHD. What are PLCs? The aim of the PLCs is to recognise learning differences in our students and offer in-school support in a way that allows them to access the curriculum fully. These classes are subject specific and address the individual learning needs of the student according to the recommendations of an educational psychological assessment. PLCs have a maximum class size of 8 students. Full academic curriculum in English and Math is followed and the content of the final examinations is of equal value. Classes are taught by subject specialists and delivered in a way that suits the style of the individual learner. Methods of testing and classwork include appropriate accommodations based on the recommendations from an educational psychological assessment. Classes are taught within the existing timetable structure.
Learning Groups (LG) We offer Learning Groups in Literacy, Numeracy and Study Skills for students in both the Middle School and High School from grades 6-12. What are LGs? These classes are skills based and address the needs of students who need to develop and improve their skills to fully access the curriculum. Classes are arranged following discussion with the Head of Learning Support and the appropriate School Principals. LGs are reviewed regularly at the end of each marking period with the view of adjusting to support the learner, as necessary. LGs have a class size of between 3 and 8 students. The number of lessons per week, the length and content of the course will vary according to the student’s needs. Classes are taught by subject specialists and delivered in a way that suits the style of the individual learner. Methods of testing and classwork include appropriate accommodations based on the recommendations from an educational psychological assessment. Student schedules are modified to facilitate attendance within the existing timetable structure in coordination with the Middle School or High School office.
