Closet Container Guide: The Top 5 Closet Organizers I Use to Design More Convenience & Ease Into My Life (with a classy vibe!) By Melody Granger, Founder of The Well-‐Organized Entrepreneur™
1. Decorative or Simply Elegant Hooks – Well, everywhere!
The convenience appeal of hooks: they can be used in multiple different areas of the home, and store many different types of items – camisoles, tank tops, robes, purses, necklaces, wet towels, keys, aprons, jackets, backpacks, brooms, dog leashes and more – right where you use items the most. You can install hooks, well, almost everywhere! They are fantastic for helping keep a high traffic area tidy or to create more organization where your space is tight: like on the inside or outside of a cabinet, on the back of a door, or in a tight/dead space of a closet. Neatly hang several items in a row, in an open space to create an interesting look. Instead of using one towel bar, I have a row of decorative hooks, so hanging several wet towels at a time, is a breeze. And, it looks cozy. When hooks are strategically selected and installed, you can make them stand out or seamlessly flow with your décor. Hooks can be a beautiful and smart addition to life!
2. Valet Rods – Must have for the Closet & Laundry Room.
The convenience appeal of a valet rod: it frees up your hands to put away clothing, prep for a trip, or hang freshly ironed clothes. Just pop your hanging clothing on the valet rod and easily get your laundry tasks done. The valet rod is extremely convenient! And, if you invest in a sliding valet rod, then you simply push the rod in, when not in use. Not only is a valet rod great when you want to hang an outfit you’re wearing for the day, it hardly takes up ANY space. It’s very discreet! It can be installed virtually anywhere you have a smooth solid surface. Be sure to invest in strong valet rods, or you won’t be so impressed. 3. Angled Bins & Shelf Dividers – Transform messy shelves! The convenience appeal of an angled bin: it’s easy to see your belongings and access the item you need. When you want to see less or enjoy a streamlined look in your closet, simply turn your angled bin so the tall side is facing you. You’ll instantly create a visually quiet space. You can store folded sweaters, scarves, purses, belts, swimwear and many other “loose” items that you may not need to hang, in angled bins. No need to be perfect all the time, because bins hide your messy, rushing ways. Keep items neat and prevent items from slipping or falling on your shelves, once you’ve selected these genius, angled organizers. Or you can simply attach shelf dividers, like the one in the picture to the right, to keep your closet tidy. You’ll probably enjoy peeking into your very neat and well-‐ organized closet, easily locating exactly what you’re in the mood to wear for the day. Use these in ALL your closets! *The angled bin image to the right is from The Container Store. *The acrylic shelf divider image is from Houzz.com.
4. Adjustable Shelves – Never struggle with “the perfect fit.”
The convenience of adjustable shelves: If the size of your new items change, as most trends and products do, then you can make adjustments to your shelves to accommodate your new favorite things…without getting frustrated because you don’t have that extra inch! I use adjustable shelves in ALL my clothing closets. I highly recommend adjustable shelving in your office, bathroom, linen, wardrobe and laundry closets. Simply adjust the shelves as often as needed to get the perfect fit. You can add small or large sections of adjustable shelves wherever you need more storage space to organize items for easy access. Install, mix and match shelves in several of your closets. How convenient is THAT? Adjustable shelves give you so much flexibility for customizing your closets for years to come. There are several different brands, materials, and colors for you to choose from. Stick to ONE brand and style for multiple closets, if you LOVE the mix and match idea.

5. Matching Hangers – One Style Hanger, Incredible Beauty.
The convenience of matching hangers: You instantly create a beautiful, streamlined look that your eyes (& heart!) will love. Your favorite clothing colors won’t compete for attention, when a neutral tone hanger is selected. I prefer wooden hangers because they are so elegant and classy. I also prefer wooden hangers, because they are thicker, which helps give clothing room to breathe. Thinner hangers are great for light, wrinkle-‐free fabrics, like modal fabrics. But, be careful of using slimmer hangers to squeeze in more clothes, because if the fabrics wrinkle or don’t get worn often, then they won’t have as much oxygen to keep them nice, fresh and ready to wear. Designer Tip: If you have wooden floors, then match the wood to your clothing hangers for an extra classy designer touch.
BONUS: Seasonal Boxes…Clearly Seen, Not Forgotten. The convenience appeal of seasonal storage boxes: Rotate
your seasonal clothing and accessories twice a year to free up space, so you have more room to easily select outfits, efficiently locate what you need and easily put things away. It’s tough to enjoy dressing -‐ or maintaining any type of closet in your home -‐ when it’s cramping your style! If your closet is large, then you may not need to use this seasonal closet organizer tip. I rotate clothing and other home items in between the Spring and Summer seasons, then again, in between the Fall and Winter seasons. Leverage every way you can to make things easier on yourself, especially in ALL your closets.
