Brighton  Bulldogs  Football  and  Cheer   Coaches’  code  of  conduct

Our  mission  is  to  ensure  that  each  child  who  participates  in  our  program  ends  each   season  with  a  better  understanding  of  football  skills,  sportsmanship,  and   citizenship.  We  also  believe  the  self  esteem  that  our  players  and  cheerleaders  gain   through  a  positive,  fun  and  team  oriented  experience  helps  them  grow  both  as  a   team  member  and  as  a  person.    Our  coaches  are  the  primary  interface  with  the   children  and  parents  that  make  up  our  program.    In  their  role,  the  coaches  are   critical  for  ensuring  we  create  a  culture  that  is  aligned  with  the  mission  and  values   our  organization  stands  for.    Therefore,  we  expect  all  of  our  coaches  to  abide  by  this   code  of  conduct.     As  a  coach  in  the  Brighton  Bulldogs  Football  and  Cheer  program,  I  will:   1. Put playing time and sportsmanship above winning.   2. Never engage in an argumentative or confrontational conversation with an official or another coach.   3. Never engage in an argumentative or confrontational conversation with a parent. If the parent insists in this behavior, I will walk away and immediately notify a BBFC board member.   4. Treat parents as valuable members of my team by frequently talking with them and seeking their questions. I will ask for their help in getting kids to learn their plays, get the proper rest and nutrition, and in helping prepare the kids to play the game of football.   5. Run well-organized practices with drills planned out, written out and timed.   6. Speak with confidence and purpose and encourage eye contact between me and my players when talking.   7. Get my kids plenty of water breaks, taking no chances with heat exhaustion.   8. Take no chances with health issues, and if necessary call parent, evacuate or call for ambulance. I will keep all asthma inhalers in one location.   9. Review in depth safe blocking and tackling techniques with the head up to lessen the possibility of neck and head injuries.   10. Be positive, smile, and enthusiastically encourage my players.   11. Be consistent, set parameters and not let my players go outside them.   12. Use harsh discipline sparingly but consistently.   13. Never demean a child verbally.   14. Encourage overt sportsmanship at every turn.

15. Encourage teamwork.   16. Not touch a player when I appear angry. Never touch a player in any private area.   17. Not use any abusive or foul language.   18. Always have a medical kit fully provisioned and available at practices and games.   19. Follow LCAJFL rules, ensuring all players play a minimum of 6 plays per half. I acknowledge that any violation of this rule will result in suspension and or permanent expulsion.   20. Will not run up scores intentionally. I will allow the other team to score if the game is well in hand. I recognize that their kids need confidence in themselves too.   21. Not call timeouts, absolutely will not pass or call blitzes and stay inbounds and run the clock out if we have a big lead late in a game. I will not sub a star or big player back in late in the game. I will ask our quarterback to kneel to run out the last few seconds if we are close to the goal line.   22. Not allow parents on the sidelines during games except for coaches. I will not allow parents on the field for practice.   23. Refer any guardian or coach complaints to the President, commissioner or any Board Member.   24. Report any unexcused absences to the commissioner or parent immediately.   25. Report any rules violations to the President or any Board member as soon as possible.   26. Have Fun!   I agree to abide by the above guidelines as a condition of Coaching for Brighton Bulldogs Football and Cheer. I can be terminated at any time, with or without cause and will have no remedy or review. I acknowledge that I will be a role model, that players will take their cue from me. I agree to act in a way that is honorable. While the goal is to play well, the primary goal is the uplifting and proper training of young men. Signed
