Dear  Coach/Manager,       Welcome  to  the  2015  King/Lyles  Memorial  Baseball  Tournament!  We  started   this  tournament  thirteen  years  ago  to  honor  the  lives  of  two  kids  that  died  too  soon.   All   of   the   money   we   make   from   this   tournament   is   given   away   in   the   form   of   scholarships  to  deserving  high  school  seniors.  The  idea  is  that  Carrie  King  and  Troy   Lyles  never  had  the  opportunity  to  make  their  dreams  come  true  but  they  certainly   can  help  other  kids  fulfill  their  goals.  So  far  we’ve  given  away  $96,000  in  scholarship   money.   Thank   you   for   being   here   and   allowing   us   to   continue   Troy   and   Carrie’s   legacy.         As  a  preliminary  matter,  your  tournament   fee   must   be   paid   prior  to  your   first   game   or   your   team   will   not   be   allowed   to   play.   Similarly,   you   must   turn   in   a   completed   and   signed   roster   to   the   field   manager   before   the   first   game.   For   updated  information  on  brackets,  inclement  weather  and  game  cancellations,  please   check  www.ljba.org.         The   King/Lyles   Memorial   Baseball   Tournament   is   a   USSSA   tournament   and   as  such,  USSSA  rules  will  be  followed  with  some  exceptions,  which  can  be  found  in   this  packet.  In  addition,  you  will  find  a  pitching  sheet  and  addresses  for  each  of  the   fields.         Again,  thank  for  you  being  here  this  weekend.  Your  participation  ensures  the   memories  of  Carrie  and  Troy  will  go  on  and  local  high  school  seniors  will  be  given   much  deserved  help  in  their  pursuit  of  their  dreams.

Rules     Roster     1. The  signed  athletic  waiver  and  release  of  liability  is  due  before  you  begin   your  first  game.  Birth  certifications  are  required  for  all  players  not  on  the   team’s  regular  roster.  Rosters  are  frozen  once  the  team  has  started  its  first   inning  of  its  first  game.     2. Players  can  be  added  to  the  roster  but  they  cannot  be  from  a  higher-‐level   team.  No  player  can  play  down,  i.e.,  if  a  player  is  on  a  AAA  roster  then  that   player  cannot  play  on  a  AA  team.  A  player  can  play  up  but  if  that  team   qualifies  in  the  AAA  division,  a  AA  player  may  not  be  eligible  for  a  AA   tournament     Note:  A  player  can  only  be  on  one  team’s  USSSA  state  qualifying  roster.  If  a  player  is   on  more  than  one  roster,  then  a  drop/add  form  will  need  to  be  submitted  for  the   player  to  meet  this  qualification.       Games     1. During  pool  play,  the  home  team  will  be  determined  by  coin  flip.  Games  are  1   hour  30  minutes.  During  championship  play,  the  team  with  the  highest  seed   will  be  the  home  team.  Time  limit  for  the  championship  game  is  2  hours.       2. Pool  games  can  end  in  a  tie.       3. If,  in  the  opinion  of  the  Tournament  Director,  your  team  intentionally  forfeits   a  game,  the  Tournament  Director  may  take  any  actions  that  may  be   appropriate,  including  disqualification.       4. If  a  game  cannot  be  completed  for  reasons  related  to  light  or  weather,  the   score  at  the  completion  of  the  last  full  inning  will  be  the  final  score  of  the   game.  If,  in  the  sole  discretion  of  the  field  director  or  umpire,  a  team  is   intentionally  delaying  the  game  so  this  rule  will  go  into  effect,  the  offending   team  will  forfeit  the  game.
