COED SAND VOLLEYBALL RULES Players and Substitutions Teams will have no more than 6 and no less than 8 members on the roster.

There can be no more than 6 players on the court. A minimum of 3 players is required to start or continue play. There must be a minimum of 1 Man and 1 Woman on the court at all times. Failure to meet this minimum will means that team must play without filling that position on the court.
Substitutions will be done on a full rotation basis, with each active member being involved in the rotation.

Rotation can happen around the setter, however, he or she must still serve in rotation. Inactive members may only be substituted in during a timeout.

The referee or supervisor on duty will conduct a coin toss with the visiting team choosing heads or tails. a. The team winning the toss will have the choice of side or possession. b. The other team will take the other choice. c. The second set will begin with possession by the team that did not have it in the first half, facing the opposite direction from the first half. d. The third set, if necessary, will involve another coin toss. Teams will swap sides when the first team reaches 8 points. Round-robin play will be single-sets, rally scoring played to 15. a. Win by 2, capped at 21. Season or tournament play will be best of 3 sets, rally scoring. a. The first and second set will be played to 25, win by 2 capped at 35. b. If necessary, the third set will be played to 15, win by 2 with no cap. c. The first team to win 2 sets wins the match. Each team receives one timeout per set. Whenever a team fails in its service or fails to return the ball, or commits any other fault or illegal play, the opposing team wins the rally with one of the following consequences: a. If the opposing team served, it scores a point and continues to serve. b. If the opposing team received the service, it gains the right to serve and also scores a point. The ball may be hit with any part of the body, so long as it does not commit a fault such as a double hit or a carry. a. The ball can be kicked, but it cannot cross the net off of the kick. Side sets are allowed. Let serves are in play. Teams may use no more than 3 consecutive hits. a. No individual may use more than 1 consecutive hit. Teams may not attack a serve, either with a block or with a spike. All players must be in the court at the time of the service, with the exception of the server who will be in the service zone. Unsportsmanlike conduct in any manner will result in the following, pending the severity per the discretion of the staff member on duty: a. A warning issued to the captain of the individual. b. A warning issued to the individual. c. Ejection of the individual.
