Because this event is open division all runs scored by women will count as 2 runs. ii. Maximum of 20 players on team roster. Minimum of 7 players required to avoid a forfeit. 1. If at any point a team falls below the minimum due to a player ejection the game will automatically end in a forfeit iii. Maximum of 10 players on field on defense. b. DEFENSIVE INFIELDER RESTRICTION – A maximum of 6 defenders are allowed in front of the painted infield/outfield line until the ball is hit.  EFFECT: OFFENSE HAS OPTION OF EITHER RETAKING PITCH, OR ACCEPTING RESULT OF PITCH i. If the defense only has 7 in the field, the batting team will be required to provide a ‘catcher’ whose sole responsibility is to return un-batted pitches back to the pitcher. They will NOT play defense. If the ball is hit into play, that offensive player is required to stay out of the way and not interfere in any way with defensive play.  PENALTY = INTERFERENCE, DEAD BALL, BATTER IS OUT, ALL RUNNERS RETURNED TO THE BASE(S) OCCUPIED BEFORE THE PITCH i. Teams may bat up to all 20 players in the batting order. ii. Players may sub in and out on defense at any time without notifying the umpire. iii. COURTESY RUNNERS – If a baserunner is/becomes injured, they may be substituted for on the bases by the person who made the last offensive out, regardless of gender. This has no effect on the batting order. d. GAME LENGTH – 7 innings or 55 minutes. No new inning can begin after the time limit expires if one team is ahead. Game time will be kept by an umpire. i. WEATHER-SHORTENED GAMES – In the case of inclement weather resulting in the game being stopped, 4 complete innings will constitute a full game. ii. EXTRA INNINGS/TIME LIMIT EXPIRES – If the game is tied at the end of 7 innings or at the end of a full inning with the time limit expired, each new half inning will start with 1 out and the batter due up last in that half-inning starting at 2nd base. e. MERCY RULE – If the run differential is at or greater than 15 runs after the 5 th inning, the game will be stopped. f. HOME/VISITOR – ROCK-PAPER-SCISSORS – The captain winning R-P-S will choose home or visiting team. In the playoffs, the higher-seeded team will always be the home team. g. BATTING: i.
