8. AGENDA ITEMS 8.a ARTS BENICIA GRANT SCOPE OF WORK MODIFICATION Ms. Olson introduced the item. Celeste Smeland of Arts Benicia summarized the request and explained the request for change in scope. Commissioner Snider inquired about the theme of the project remaining focused on water and was disappointed about the rain barrel demonstration being removed from the art display. Commissioner Newcomb asked about the number of exhibits at the art showing and outreach efforts. MS. Smeland advised there is an opening reception on May 25, 2017 at 6pm. On a motion of Commissioner Snider, seconded by Commissioner Newcomb, the Commission approved the modification in scope of work for the Arts Benicia grant with the caveat that one rain barrel would still be included in the display. 8.b V/GNSC FUNDS Ms. Olson provided a summary of the report and remaining funds in the settlement account. The Commission discussed the item and remaining funds. The Commission discussed prioritizing various themes of the Climate Action Plan. The Commission listed the following items and identified as potential funding items: Sustainability Expo Film Festival Adopt a Tree Program 2

8.c MCE DEEP GREEN ENERGY Chair Lindsay opened the discussion on the item. Chair Lindsay shared comments made by Commissioner Kerridge at the City Council meeting in April, including other jurisdictions that have moved to Deep Green and the reduction in Green House Gas emissions by going to Deep Green. Chair Lindsay has reached out to Marin Clean Energy and will have information to provide at a future discussion. Marin Clean Energy is scheduled to attend the July meeting. Ms. Olson clarified the budget process and future recommendations by the Commission to City Council. The Commission requested this item be agendized for the July meeting to review analysis from Marin Clean Energy. Public Comment: James Morris commented on air quality. 8.d 2017-2018 WORK PLAN Chair Lindsay opened the discussion. MS. Olson reviewed the 2017-2018 goals as presented to the City Council at the April 8, 2017 meeting. The Commission discussed the work plan goals for 2017-2018. The Commission discussed prioritizing the work program activities. The Commission determined a higher priority should be placed on collaboration with other Commissions and City Departments. The Commission discussed involvement or input on future projects and providing public comment. The Commission discussed education and outreach on greywater systems, laundry to landscape. Ms. Olson provided suggestions to focus the priorities within the work groups. 8.e WORK GROUP UPDATES The current work groups Transportation.

Commissioner Kerridge and Commissioner Snider are on this work group. The Commission discussed having each member review what other City Commissions and Council are reviewing. This will not be another work-group but an endeavor by the entire commission.

8f. BAY DAY 2017 Staff presented the item. The Commission determined the education and outreach workgroup will look into potentially sponsoring an event. 9. COMMUNICATIONS FROM STAFF Ms. Olson shared that staff is following legal issues at the state and national level through memberships in LGSEC, and USDN. 10. COMMUNICATIONS FROM COMMISSIONERS (8:00 PM) Chair Lindsay shared Commissioner Kerridge’s comments following the City Council presentation. Chair Lindsay asked about in-fill housing changes. Staff clarified the changes to the accessory dwelling units. Commissioner Snider advised 24 films submitted in the sustainability category for the Film Festival. He asked if any of the other commissioners would be willing to review some of the films and provide feedback.

Commissioner Federman commented on a potential tour of the Berkeley Lab sometime in June. He also shared he is scheduled to present at a national conference in Florida in August. He asked about looking at smart energy analytics and asked to agendize this item for a future meeting. Chair Lindsay shared about attending the LGSEC meeting and the key-note speaker’s topic of electric and autonomous vehicles and the emerging technologies as a result. Commissioner Newcomb thanked the Commission as his term is ending. Commissioner Perini announced the Sustainable Solano Backyard Tour Saturday May 20, 2017. She also shared about a group called Resilient by Design and attended a workshop in October. 12. ADJOURNEMENT Chair Lindsay adjourned the meeting at 8:49 pm
