The VELUX Group is owned by VKR Holding A/S, a limited company wholly owned by foundations and family. The VELUX Group’s financial results are incorporated into VKR Holding’s consolidated accounts. In 2014, VKR Holding’s revenue amounted to Euro 2.2 billion and net profit for the year came to Euro 179.8 million.

The VELUX Group is managed by the Board of Directors and the VELUX Management Group.

Our history In 1941, entrepreneur and inventor Villum Kann Rasmussen came up with an idea that would transform dark attics into liveable spaces full of daylight and fresh air. His first roof window was patented in 1942. He came up with a distinctive name that brought out the key benefits of his solution: ‘VE’ short for ventilation and ‘LUX’ latin for light. VELUX.
