Have been registered for the required minimum full-time load (see Bylaw 14.2.2) at the conclusion of the term immediately preceding the date of competition, if the student is continuing enrollment; or Be accepted for enrollment as a regular fulltime student for the regular term immediately following if the student is either continuing enrollment or beginning enrollment (see Bylaw 14.4.3.4).

NCAA Bylaw: 14.4.3.4- Change in Eligibility Status. If a student athlete’s academic eligibility changes at the end of a quarter or semester, the student athlete shall become eligible or ineligible to compete on the date his or her eligibility officially is certified by the appropriate institutional authority. In a case in which the student becomes eligible at the end of the term, the earliest date on which the student can become eligible to compete is the day after the date of the last scheduled examination listed in the institution’s official calendar for the term that is ending. In a case in which the student becomes ineligible, the ineligibility shall become effective not later than the first day of classes of the following semester or quarter. In any case, if the student athlete is academically eligible to compete at the time of the student athlete’s or the institution’s first participation in an NCAA championship, he or she shall remain eligible for the remainder of the championship. Certify Academic Eligibility Prior to Start of Spring Academic Term All student-athletes must meet the following academic eligibility requirements based on the fall term: •





SA must have earned a minimum of 6 (six) credit hours from the fall term*. For SA’s that are in their third year and beyond, the 6 (six) credit hours must be degree applicable. *(For Men’s Football, SA must have earned 9 (nine) credit hours from the fall term in order to be eligible for competition next fall, 2015.) SA must have a minimum cumulative grade-point average (GPA) based on their academic term: ∗ First year of enrollment: GPA requirement = 1.800 ∗ Second year of enrollment: GPA requirement = 1.900 ∗ Third year of enrollment: GPA requirement = 1.950 ∗ Fourth year of enrollment: GPA requirement = 2.000 ∗ Fifth year of enrollment: GPA requirement = 2.000 Progress towards degree requirement if at the conclusion of the fall term the SA has completed: ∗ 4 (four) full time academic terms = 40% ptd requirement ∗ 6 (six) full time academic terms = 60% ptd requirement ∗ 8 (eight) full time academic terms = 80% ptd requirement

Certification: All student-athletes must be certified as academically eligible prior to beginning of the spring term.

The coach arranges for Hole to hit balls free of charge. This country club offers student discount rates throughout the year. Q: Does this arrangement constitute a violation?

If Front earns a C or better in all four of his classes this term, he will be eligible for competition for the spring 2015 semester. Here is a brief calendar for the men's basketball team next month: December 8-12- OSU Final Exam Week December 9- Fron't last scheduled exam December 13- Competition at West College College Because the team will be done with finals and Saturday's game is in California, the team will be leaving on Thursday the 11th. As long as Front earns the necessary grades and meets all other NCAA PTD requirements to regain his eligibility, is it permissible for him to receive travel expenses prior to the conclusion of the fall semester?

NCAA Official Interpretation- Student-athlete receiving travel expenses when eligibility status changes- 11/19/92- states that a student-athlete who will become academically eligible at the end of a term may receive travel expenses prior to the conclusion of the term to attend a competition that occurs after the date of the last scheduled examination listed in the institution's official calendar for that term, provided the institution can certify that the student-athlete will become eligible during that trip, and the student-athlete does not represent the institution in competition until the day after the date of the last scheduled examination.
