➢ College Campus ➢ Outside of scheduled school day ➢ Full tuition ➢ High school/college credit ➢ For credit, high school must accept the class from RMCC ➢ Transferrable with “C” or above

➢ High school or college campus ➢ Reduced tuition rate ➢ High school and RMCC have an articulation agreement regarding classes that will count for concurrent credit ➢ Transferrable with “C” or above

How do AP courses count for concurrent credit? ➢ AP Concurrent Credit ➢ College credit ○ Minimum score of 19 on ACT in reading and/or subject area ○ Minimum grade of “C” to transfer to accredited institution ○ High school instructor ■ RMCC approval ➢ High school credit ○ Advanced Placement classes for enhanced high school GPA (AP course exam required) ➢ High school campus

What are Advanced Placement courses? ➢ Course approved by College Board ○ Instructor trained by College Board representatives ➢ Open to anyone but not for everyone ○ Rigorous course work ➢ College credit may be obtained by scoring well on the AP exam ○ State pays $85 fee for the exam ○ Most colleges require a score of 3 or higher ○ RMCC accepts a score of 4 in Chemistry and Spanish and a score of 3 in other subjects ➢ Student must take exam to receive enhanced credit for high school GPA ➢ Not all AP courses are concurrent credit college courses

Sophomores ➢ Oral Communication for concurrent credit ○ ONLY students who score 19 or above in ACT Reading will be enrolled in the class ➢ Suggested prerequisite classes ○ Pre-AP English preferably 9th and 10th to prepare for AP English Language and Composition ○ Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry for Trig/Pre-Cal

Juniors Concurrent Credit ➢ AP Language and Composition = Comp I ○ ACT Reading & Language 19 ➢ Trig/Pre-Cal = College Algebra & College Trig ○ ACT Reading & Math 19 Suggested Prerequisite Classes for AP Pre-AP Chemistry Pre-AP History

Seniors Concurrent Credit ➢ AP Literature and Composition = Comp II ○ Prerequisite: AP Language & Composition (Comp I) ○ ACT Reading & Language score 19 ➢ AP Chemistry = College Chemistry I & II ○ Suggested prerequisite: Pre-AP Chemistry ○ ACT Reading score 19 ➢ AP Government (not concurrent credit) OR ➢ English Composition I (ACT Reading & Language 19) ➢ English Composition II (ACT Reading & Language 19) ➢ American National Government (ACT Reading 19) ➢ College Algebra (ACT Math 19)

How do I register my student for concurrent credit classes?

1. Discuss goals. 2. Register by March 7th deadline for April 12th ACT a. Late fee March 8-21 b. http://www.actstudent.org 3. Enroll in classes during CAPS conferences. 4. Wait for fall semester 2014.

First Step: Take the April ACT

➢ Go online tonight and register your student for the April ACT. ○ http://www.actstudent.org ○ $35 ➢ Wait for scores ○ 2-4 weeks

Second Step: Scores and Planning 1. Score 19 or above in each area ➢ enroll for college credit. 2. Score below 19 in a required area ➢ take June ACT 3. If scores are still below 19 ➢ schedule a meeting with Mrs. Gross

ALL testing MUST be complete by August 4, 2014 or student will be dropped from concurrent credit classes

What are the fees for the classes?

➢ Concurrent Credit ○ $69 for one three-hour class ■ Tuition, fees, classroom books ➢ Regular College Credit ○ $276 for one three-hour class ■ Tuition and fees
