We look forward to introducing you to our remarkable property and working with you to make your wedding day everything you could imagine and more! The Gardens at Elm Bank resides on Massachusetts Horticultural Society’s stunning 36-acre property located along the Charles River in both Wellesley and Dover, Massachusetts. Just thirty minutes outside of Boston, our property offers twelve gorgeous display gardens and multiple event spaces to suit your wedding of any capacity. As guests enter onto our property they are guided through the wooded driveway which leads to our complimentary parking areas. Included in all rentals is use of the gardens for photographs, cocktail hour, and for guests to enjoy freely. The tranquil atmosphere of the property will bring your family and friends together as they absorb the beauty of the gardens and our historic structures in celebration of your marriage.
THE ITALIANATE GARDEN The Italianate Garden is located at the opposite end of the property with the remarkable Manor House overlooking its lush garden beds. Designed by the Olmsted Brothers between 1914 and 1928, this is one of just two Italianate gardens open to the public in Massachusetts. This romantic space is home to wedding ceremonies on the property. With six different layouts available, it is sure to fulfil your dreams or an intimate, breathtaking ceremony.
WEEZIE’S CHILDREN’S GARDEN Renovated in the spring of 2015, Weezie’s whimsical Children’s Garden is home to many cocktail receptions. With unique features such as rustic towers and our signature oversized Adirondack chair, this phenomenal space allows guests to mingle and explore as they enjoy hors d’oeuvres and cocktails in this unrivalled space!
OTHER GARDENS ON THE PROPERTY Beyond the Italianate and Weezie’s Children’s Garden are many other spaces for photographs as well as your guests to roam freely and enjoy. The Bressingham Garden and Trial Garden are often incorporated into events as welcoming spaces for your guests as they arrive on the property. All of our gardens offer unlimited photo possibilities for groups of any size.

RECEPTION LOCATIONS Included in the rental of both of our reception spaces is an on-site staff member the day of the wedding as well as a family membership to Massachusetts Horticultural Society. Throughout the planning process, an event associate from The Gardens at Elm Bank is available for any property- related questions. If having your ceremony on site, rehearsals are included in your rate and based on the availability of gardens and event spaces.
THE HUNNEWELL CARRIAGE HOUSE The first of our two reception options is the historic and stately Hunnewell Carriage House. The great hall of the Carriage House boasts nearly 3,000 square feet of event space and is capped with a magnificent vaulted and trussed ceiling. The great hall alone can accommodate up to 150 guests for a seated reception with dancing or 200 guests for a seated reception without the dance floor. From the beginning of May to the beginning of November, the rental also includes an attached three season tent which comes in great use for cocktails or extra seating. Utilizing the three season tent and having a dance floor for your reception, the Carriage House can hold a maximum of 225 guests for a seated reception, and 400 for a cocktail reception. Included in the rental of the Hunnewell Carriage House are beautiful fruitwood chiavari chairs, round tables that sit up to 10 guests each, as well as six and eight foot rectangular tables. Available for rent is our 20x20 parquet dance floor which can be placed in the great hall of the Carriage House, or in the three season tent.
THE MAPLE GROVE Centrally located amongst the gardens is our spacious Maple Grove. With nearly 17,000 square feet of space, this outdoor area can accommodate tented receptions of virtually any size. We have a variety of vendors that offer modern, beautiful tent rentals. Special coordination is required for all events in the Maple Grove.
