1 Corinthians Sermon Series Supports Session 5: Assurance of the Resurrection Sermon Title: The Rock of the Gospel Passage: 1 Corinthians 15:1-8, 11

Connection to the passage The hope and assurance of our salvation is possible because of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. The death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the foundation of the gospel message. Introduction/Opening Some houses fare better than others in the aftermath of a storm. Some structures may remain intact while the structures sitting around it are devastated. In some cases, the damage sustained reveals more about the construction of a structure than about the strength of the storm. Our hope in life and eternity is rooted in the reality of Jesus Christ’s resurrection from the dead. Without the resurrection of Jesus Christ, life has no meaning and no consequences. Yet, the resurrection proves that life exists beyond the grave. For this reason, we have hope because He lives. The gospel we believe and preach is based on the death, burial, resurrection, and appearance of Jesus Christ. Outline 1. Death of Christ (1 Cor. 15:1-3) a) Acts 17:2-3 b) Isaiah 53:1-8 2.
