2 November 2015 Dear Parent/Carer
Consultation: Changes to the Academy’s Admissions Policy The Academy would like to invite you to a consultation meeting to discuss proposed changes to the admissions policy for the Academy. The Academy is proposing the following changes to its Admission Policy: To include details of entry to the Academy’s Early Years’ Centres; To change the policy around deferred entries to Reception for children born between 1st April and 31st
August to align with guidance from the Department for Education; To change the oversubscription criteria for entry to year groups between Reception and KS4 to include
a provision to accept children who already have siblings at the Academy in one of the Reception to Year 11 year groups; To remove the criteria for entry for Level 1 courses in the Sixth Form since the Academy no longer offers Level 1 courses. With regard to the format of the policy it is proposed to have a core policy and separate procedures to be followed for admission to each of the phases of the Academy to reflect the different requirements for each phase. It is intended that these changes will make it easier for parents to understand the policy and procedures for the different phases: Early Years, Nursery, Primary, Secondary, Sixth Form and The Centre. The Academy has always complied with the Schools Admission Code and these changes will make the Academy’s policy crystal clear. Copies of the proposed policy and procedures are available on the Academy’s website at www.ncea.org.uk/info‐2/consultations/ . All responses to the consultation should be sent to the Principal Director Operations at the Josephine Butler Campus or
[email protected] to arrive no later than the 18th December 2015. There will be meetings to discuss these proposals in more detail and for us to receive any comments, queries and concerns. The meetings are to be held at: The William Leech Campus on Tuesday 17 November 2015 at 2.30pm The Josephine Butler Campus on Tuesday, 17 November 2015 at 6pm (for all residents of Ashington) The Grace Darling Campus on Wednesday 18 November at 2.30pm These meetings are open to all. Yours sincerely
