What do I have to do in the end of year examination? • You will be tested on your reading and writing skills • Listening and speaking skills will be tested in class after the formal examination. However all will count towards your final level at the end of the year • You will need to read texts and tick multiple choice answers • There will be clues in the questions so you will need to copy carefully • Write a paragraph about yourself Eg) Describe yourself and your family • Fill in gaps in the text
What techniques can I use in the examination to help me? Pick out key words from the title and the question Answer the question you can do first and guess intelligently from the answers that are left (process of elimination) Keep an eye on the time and leave 5 minutes at the end for checking Look at the number of allocated marks : 5 marks = 5 answers Don’t leave any blanks RTQ : read the question

How can I do all that ? 1) Create a revision timetable with allocated times for each subject . Put it up in the kitchen. (No revision = no X box) 2 ) Little and often is better than last minute eg) 2 x 15 minutes a night 3) RAG : traffic light your topics 4) Read grammar notes 3x , choose 5 verbs including one irregular verb. Write 5 sentences . Read your notes again & check your sentences 5) Use ideas in your toolkit eg) vocab man, pyramids & spelling rhymes

Have a night before revision list or pack of A5 cards to calm those last minute nerves Pack your bag the night before Eat breakfast and bring a small bottle of water for the exam hall
