Core  Competencies     Personal  Formation  (Heart):   • Healthy  Personal  and  Family  Lifestyle  –  Develop  a  pattern  and  plan  for  continued  personal  growth  and  health   in  body,  soul  and  spirit  including:   o Christ-­‐like  character  formation     o Personal  wholeness,  identity,  values  and  calling   o Life-­‐long  learning   o Spiritual  disciplines     o Sustainable  rhythms  of  worship,  work,  rest  and  play     o Family  health   o Personal  finance  and  retirement  planning   o Accountable  relationships       Ministry  Formation  (Head):   • Biblical  Understanding  and  Interpretation  –  Knowledge  of  the  general  content  and  themes  of  the  Bible  and   specific  knowledge  of  the  gospels  and  book  of  Acts.  The  ability  to  correctly  interpret,  understand  and  apply   scripture  and  communicate  this  knowledge  in  personal  and  public  settings.     • Basic  Christian  Doctrine  and  Theology  –  An  understanding  of  and  ability  to  explain  the  core  doctrines  of   historic  Christianity  and  the  doctrines  of  the  Foursquare  Church  as  well  as  core  theological  subjects.       • Church  History  and  Government  –  An  understanding  of  the  major  themes  in  Church  history  including   Foursquare’s  place  and  heritage  in  the  story.  An  understanding  of  the  polity  and  operation  of  the  church  with   special  knowledge  of  Foursquare  distinctives  of  governance.       • World  View  and  Contextualization  –  Understanding  the  varied  world-­‐views  and  the  need  to  exegete  one’s   culture  to  effectively  relate  the  mission  of  the  church  to  the  people  groups  within  it.       Skill  Formation  (Hand):   • Evangelism  and  Discipleship  –  The  ability  to  lead  people  to  a  saving  relationship  with  Jesus  Christ,  teaching   and  mentoring  them  to  spiritual  maturity  and  the  ability  to  train  and  mobilize  others  to  do  the  same.     •  Holy  Spirit  Baptism  and  Spiritual  Gifts  –  The  ability  to  minister  the  Holy  Spirit  baptism  and  to  teach  and   shepherd  the  gifts  congregationally.       • Communication  –  The  ability  to  communicate  effectively  to  individuals,  small  groups  and  larger  public   gatherings,  including  preaching  and  teaching.         • Organizational  Leadership  –  The  ability  to  lead  the  organization  of  a  church  or  ministry  in  health  and   demonstrating  effectiveness  in:   o People  skills  and  conflict  resolution   o Missional  discernment     o Development  of  ministry  vision,  plans  and  implementation   o Organizational  clarity,  communication  and  systems  

Finance  and  administrative  practices     Pastoral  Counsel  –  The  ability  to  provide  Biblical  guidance  to  individuals  and  families  regarding  spiritual  needs  and   life  issues.   o
