CORINTH AREA BASEBALL COACHES INFORMATION

1. Background checks are done to protect all children who participate in Corinth Area Baseball. Therefore, ALL Coaches, Assistants, Managers, etc. must successfully pass a background check in order to be eligible to coach. Background checks are mandatory, no exceptions. 2. Please go online for the Coaches Certification at: Https://opportunities.averity.com/CorinthBaseball to complete a background check. For step-by-step instructions on accessing the site, please visit the CAB website and look under the “Coaches Information Tab”. Your online background check will be sent directly to CAB for review after you complete payment to Protect Youth Sports/Averity. 3. Once you have successfully obtained your background check, please email a copy of it to the CAB board at [email protected]. 4. The decision of eligibility is final. 5.

All coaches are required to notify the Corinth Area Baseball Board, immediately following an arrest or conviction.

6. You will receive a card that should be worn at all practices and games. You will NOT be allowed to participate without your badge, regardless of familiarity with league officials. Umpires and board members will be checking badges before games, if you do not have your Coaches badge at the start of the game, you will not be allowed to coach during the game, or be in team area (field, dug out, etc.). If your badge is lost or stolen, you will need to obtain a new one. 7. RETURNING COACHES – If your background check and coach identification badges is still valid, then you do not need another. The expiration date is printed on the coach identification badges. If your badge expires during the season, you must obtain a new background check and submit a copy to the CAB board.

*HEAD COACHES – We provide a complimentary jersey and hat to the Head Coach and one Assistant Coach per team. What is the name of your primary Asst. This form along with the Coaches Code of Ethics form must be completed for all coaches, assistant coaches, and team managers. Only those whom have completed the coaches packet and successful passed a background check will be eligible to coach/manage a team(s). FORM 2

COACHES’ CODE OF ETHICS

I hereby pledge to live up to my certification and duties as a youth sports coach by following the Corinth Area Baseball Coaches’ Code of Ethics: 

I will wear my coach identification badge during all practices and games, and understand that I will not be allowed to coach, nor be in the team area (field, court, bench, dug out etc.) without my badge regardless of familiarity.



I will place the emotional and physical well-being of my players ahead of a personal desire to win.



I will treat each player as an individual, remembering the large range of emotional and physical development for the same age group.



I will do my best to provide a safe playing situation for my players.



I promise to review and practice basic first aid principles needed to treat injuries of my players.



I will do my best to organize practices that are fun and challenging for all my players.



I will provide a sports environment for my team that is free of drugs, tobacco, and alcohol, and I will refrain from their use at all youth sports events.



I will be knowledgeable in the rules of each sport that I coach, and I will teach these rules to my players.



I will use those coaching techniques appropriate for all if the skills that I teach.



I will remember that I am a Youth Sports Coach, and that the game is for children and not adults.
