Misconduct of spectators, players or coaches can result in assessment of a penalty, ejection or forfeiture of the game. Spectators must also remain in the area designated by the supervisors. The intramural supervisors and officials shall have the power to make decisions on any matters or questions not specifically covered in the rules. The official American Cornhole Organization rules will govern all play for any rule not covered in the following Intramural Sports rules:
1. Teams 1.1 The game shall be played with two players per team. 1.2 This is an open tournament so there are no gender classifications.
2. The Game 2.1 The game consists of two boards and four colored bean bags per team. Boards will be placed 27 feet apart from the front edges in a straight line. 2.2 Games length: a team that scores (or exceeds) 21 points before their opponent or has the best score after 20 minutes of play will be declared the winner. 2.2.1 If a team wins by forfeit, they will automatically receive a score of 21-0. 2.3 Teammates will stand at opposite boards facing their each other. 2.4 Opponents at the same board will alternate tosses and a round is scored after all 8 bags have been thrown. 2.4.1 Bags cannot “bounce” on the ground and then land on the board. 2.4.2 The last team to score receives “honors” meaning they are the first to throw the next round. 2.4.3 A coin flip will determine which team has “honors” in the first round.

CORNHOLE RULES INTRAMURAL SPORTS 2.4.4 A team retains “honors” in all subsequent rounds until the “honors” changes.
3. Scoring 3.1 A bag that lands and stays on the board counts as 1 point. 3.2 A bag that lands or slides completely through the hole, either through a direct toss or pushed through by another toss regardless of thrower, counts as 3 points. 3.3 The score at the end of each round is the difference of the points scored by each team during that round, also known as “cancellation scoring.” 3.3.1 For example, if Team A ends a round with one bag the board (1 point) and Team B ends a round with one bag in the hole (3 points), Team B will receive 2 points towards their total. Team B also retains “honors” and will go first next round. 3.4 Any bags that are touching the ground, fall off the board, or are tossed out of turn do not count.
4. Tournament play 4.1 Specifics about the format of the Cornhole tournament bracket will be based off of participant interest and determined after registration closes. However, the championship round will not have a time cap.
