Council for Children with Behavioral Disorders is Proud to Announce the 2017 Elected Officers and Committee Members Vice President Kimberly Rice, M.Ed. As past President of Arizona CCBD and a National Board Certified Teacher, and current state program specialist in literacy, inclusion, systems change and professional development of teachers, I believe my knowledge and experience will provide a valuable contribution to support children with EBD, their families, the school teachers and leaders who serve them, and the researchers who move the field forward. My goal is to focus on trauma-informed care and more inclusive practices of students with EBD as I serve to increase and sustain membership by coordinating opportunities for professional development to merge research, policy, practice, and advocacy.

Mickey Losinski, Ph.D. was elected in February of 2017. He declined to assume the position in June 2017 prior to beginning his term. Kimberly Rice received well above the minimum number of votes stated in the by-laws and accepted the position beginning July 1, 2017.

and training teachers in effective implementation of evidence-based practices. If elected to serve on the Executive Committee, I will be committed to continuing the efforts that are underway to identify effective practices for students with EBD and to make CCBD materials resources more visible for teachers. Treasurer David J. Royer, M.S. I was a high school special education resource and Lindamood-Bell reading teacher for eight years in California before moving to Kansas for my PhD in special education. I served on the Finance Committee for a local House Corporation as Advisor for the past four years, directly overseeing a $250,000 budget and expenditures. In addition to this experience, my attention to detail and organization make me an excellent candidate for CCBD Treasurer, and I look forward to supporting the Executive Committee as needed to address contemporary issues for students with and at risk for EBD. CEC Representatives Council Member B Mandy E. Lusk, Ph.D. I have been a life-long special educator who currently serves as the program chair and Assistant Professor at Clayton State University in special education. I earned my undergraduate degree in special education and master’s degree in students with behavior disorders from Mississippi State University. As a practitioner in special education for numerous years, I predominantly taught students with emotional and behavioral disorders from all ages. In addition, I earned my Ph.D. from the University of North Texas in students with behavior disorders. My research agenda includes

preparing teachers to positively educate culturally and linguistically diverse learners with challenging behaviors. I am a dedicated, passionate professional who will fully commit to and further the mission of CCBD. Student Member at Large

Sara Sanders, M.S. I am a doctoral student at Kansas State University where my research interests include academic interventions for students with EBD, specifically reading in the content areas. As the Student Member-at-Large I am excited about the prospect of advocating for students on the executive committee. I believe conducting focus groups with students will help to inform the needs and issues students currently face. Additionally, I would like to aid the executive committee in translating evidence-based practices into usable information for students. I look forward to the opportunity to address some of these goals with CCBD members and the executive committee.

Nominations and Elections Committee Member Michael Valenti, Ph.D. The Committee is charged with the vital task of helping to select individuals for CCBD leadership positions. I believe I have the experience required to help the Committee to serve our community in this endeavor. I have served as both a student and a staff representative on faculty search teams at the postsecondary level, and recently I helped to develop ethical research procedures for my current organization. I would be excited to serve on the Committee to help to ensure the integrity of the
