POW Nominations for 4/16/16- 4/17/16
Courage Girls 02 Red Diana Arias Diana has come into her own in the last month with the 02's. She was calm on the ball and tight in possession through our State Cup and Region 1 contests over the weekend. Diana constantly made herself available to switch the point of attack, spring our #9's, and help the group maintain possession. She might have lost
the ball one time over the weekend. She also contributed defensively and worked for the group. Diana came into the Red team from our Classic program and everyone is excited to watch her develop over the coming years. Courage Boys 00 White Aiden Gibbons In a new position as an outside defender Aiden played the entire game and played well. He closed down space, made opponents go negative, and helped keep possession when in the attack. He did well to win the ball and keep the ball in transition. Courage Boys 02 White -Victor Romero Victor did well in various positions as a 3, 6, 9, and 10. He challenged well for the ball and when winning the ball was able to keep possession. In the attack he bad some dangerous attacking balls, getting his head up and finding support.
Courage Girls 03 White -Robyn Cajayon Robyn had one of her best weekends of the year at center back for the 03s. She was unbeatable in a 2-1 win on Saturday and a 5-1 win on Sunday. She has always played with a ton of confidence and athleticism. You can see this young player really starting to read the game well, making great decisions defensively and providing support in the attack. Excellent effort at training all week long - definitely paying off on match days. Courage Girls 97 White- Kaylee Zabava Missing our two starting CBs this weekend, young up-and-comer, Kaylee Zabava showed confidence and poise stepping in to anchor the back line. Our GKs rarely saw the ball in a 0-0 draw with DCST, and Kaylee was especially effective at switching the attack. Coaches agree Kaylee is one of our most improved players since joining the 97s this past June. Fun to watch a strong player who you know is only going to get better over the next year.
Courage Boys 02 Black Josh Talcott. Josh demonstrated excellent attacking and defensive skills and leadership from the number 6, 8, and 9 positions. He created many scoring opportunities for the team and finished an attack with a goal of his own. Courage Girls 06 White Chloe Nelson She's been working hard in games and practices. Helping her team with the ball on her feet and without the ball.Had some nice goals this weekend. Very proud for her! Courage Girls 05 White Genesis She has been working so hard practices and killing it at games... From point of attack to defending.. She had to really nice goals this weekend! Very proud of her. Courage Boys 99 White Jeff Quinteros Played the #3 in our back 3 for the whole game and helped the team to a shutout. Won 50-50 balls, possessed the ball out of the back, won a
large majority of his 1v1 battles, and capped off a stellar day defensively with a great headed goal off a corner. Jeff continues to be dominant on set pieces both in the attack and defensively. Courage Boys 01 White Nicolas Hubbell Nicolas was dangerous throughout the day playing the #10. He worked hard to find space in behind the strikers, combined well with his teammates, was an option when playing out of the back, and was unluckily robbed by good goalkeeping on 2 strikes from distance. Nicolas also chipped in defensively closing passing lanes and winning 50-50 balls. Courage U13/U14 USSDA Austin Rawlins Made several huge saves and quality distribution to preserve a 1-1 draw against Bethesda-Olney Courage Girls 97 Red Catie McDonald Made a significant impact in the game on both sides of the ball in a 1-1 draw against VSA in Region 1
Courage Girls 03 Red Eden Whiteside Tireless work rate throughout the entire game right up to the last minute - her energy forced the opposition to turn over the ball in dangerous areas and generated great opportunities for the 03 Red Girls
