Create a Hypertufa Planter Tuesday, June 5, 2018 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Cornell Cooperative Extension Orange County 18 Seward Ave., 3rd Floor, Middletown, NY 10940-1919

You’ll bring home the hypertufa you’ve created, ready to “cure” and fill with plants! Old stone containers make wonderful planters, but they are heavy (and difficult to find)! Hypertufa is a lighter weight man-made, stone-like material created from natural materials that can be fashioned into all sorts of containers and objects. In this class, you will make a round hypertufa planter to take home with you. You will also be given instructions on how to prepare the correct soil mixture for this special type of planter, and we will show you what kind of plants will thrive in your hypertufa planter once it is “cured.” Please wear old work clothes for mixing cement. You must be able to work standing up. We will supply the hypertufa trough, ‘ingredients,’ and ‘mold.’ Cost: $30 per person. Gardening in Orange County subscribers, $27 per person. Space is limited, so please register early. Deadline for registration: May 29, 2018. Register online, or call 845-344-1234 for more information. Sorry, no refunds. If you can’t attend, please send someone in your place.
