HOW SOLAR WORKS Solar can seem complicated. But the science behind the panels can be easily summed up in these steps.
Energy from the sun travels over 92 million miles to your solar panel array.
Photovoltaic (PV) cells on the solar panels capture the sun’s energy.
The PV cells create direct current (DC) electricity, which is then converted to alternating current (AC) electricity via a power inverter.
The AC current can then be used to power lights and appliances in your house.
Your utility meter measures your energy usage.
Thanks to net metering, any excess energy your system produces is sent back into the grid, which could earn you credits. 11
