Creating a Facebook Lookalike Audience from Your Customer Contacts
If you’ve collected email addresses or phone numbers from existing customers, you can upload them to Facebook and create a “Custom Audience.” Facebook will store your customer contacts and you can market directly to them, if desired. You can also create a “Lookalike Audience” in Facebook based on your current list’s demographics. Facebook will scan your contact list and gain information about those users from their data if they’re on Facebook (i.e. their geographic location, interests, pages they’ve liked, etc.). Facebook will then create a similar audience of users based on your list, known as a Lookalike Audience. You’ll be able to target your new Lookalike Audience in a variety of ways using Facebook advertising. Before you create a Lookalike Audience, you must first create a Custom Audience in Facebook by uploading your current contact list. Instructions for creating a Facebook Custom Audience using your contact list can be found at facebook.com/business/a/custom-audiences. Once your Custom Audience has been created from your customer contact list, you can create a Lookalike Audience on Facebook – people with similar interests and locales as your current customers.
