Sew a combination of strips together then cut out half and quarter square triangles -- all with the same tool.

Horizontal Strips Use the ruler to cut triangles out of horizontal strip sets. Line up the black horizontal lines on the ruler with the seams of the strips and rotary cut along the diagonal sides of the template. Rotate ruler 180º with each cut. Sew four of these quarter triangles together to complete one block.

Vertical Strips
45° Angles
Use the template to cut triangles out of vertical strip sets. Line up any of the white vertical lines on the template with the seams of various sized strips. Rotary cut along the diagonal sides of the template, then sew four of these together to complete one block.
Place the template at a 45° angle to cut triangles out of vertical strips. Line up the markings on the center "square" with the seams of the sewn strips .
