Outside the Lines: Story Stroll Strategic Goal #1: Inspire Learning Strategic Goal #2: Facilitate Connection Strategic Goal #3: Create Opportunity We are partnering with Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department to provide Carson City with an active reading program for Outside the Lines (OTL). A self led Story Stroll will be available to the public at Carson River Park September 10-30, 2017 to promote reading, highlight our open spaces, and engage our community. This fun, educational program promotes literacy by getting children engaged in reading in a unique way. Additionally, the stroll encourages healthy activities utilizing Carson City’s trails. Be sure to document your stroll by taking pictures and using the hashtags #getOTL #CCStoryStroll #IWalkForMyLibrary on Social Media.

Family Reading Program with NNLC Strategic Goal #1: Inspire Learning Strategic Goal #3: Create Opportunity This is Northern Nevada Literacy Council’s third year with their grant funded Family Reading Program. The program is a free literacy project that provides parent tips on learning to support literacy. Through this partnership we will are able to: • Build vocabularies • Reinforce literacy instruction • Build home libraries (free books for participants) • Incorporate literacy in home learning We will utilize the Family Reading Program materials, activities and books during our monthly Story Time and Craft that is held one Saturday per month.
