Croghan Dam Restoration Initiative 2014 Update The Development Authority of the North Country (DANC) has continued their search for a company to investigate profitable hydro development opportunities available in Croghan. This search has led to contacts with two companies: one a foreign company with a representative visiting on 9/13/14, and a Rochester based company. Both are evaluating rehabilitation alternatives incorporated with hydro generation alternatives and an economic analysis for the various options. We remain hopeful the outcome will prove economically feasible. Please keep us in mind when surfing the internet on hydropower and in your networking. • •

In the basement of the Croghan Island Mill, this system of belts and pulleys from the 19th century runs 12 woodworking machines. It is currently hooked up to an electric motor to operate the mill’s business. We expect to reconnect to the original water wheel when the dam is rehabilitated. Call John Martin at 315-346-1115 for your specialty woodworking needs.
REMINDER: Reprints of Richard Trick’s watercolor painting of the Croghan Island Mill are available by contacting Glen Gagnier, 315-346-6705,
