The National Junior Honor Society once again presented the annual Ahlf Junior High Veteran’s assembly. Eighth grade band and orchestra performed, along with the 7th and 8th grade choir. Thank you to all the parents, and community members who attended.

EAST NEWS EAST held its first annual EAST Night Out on Thursday, November 3. There were almost 200 people in attendance. Students presented software they had been using, as well as community projects they are ready to begin. The big hits of the night were the virtual reality of the Oculus Rift and the Ultimaker 3D printer.

Mr. Hodges tries out a game on the Oculus Rift while Fischer Hodges, Paige Peters, Alan Selvidge, and Eliana Oden look on. The game was coded in Unity software by students then converted to Oculus

Students in 7th grade Keycode recently composed and mailed letters to a favorite celebrity. Madison Alverson wrote a letter to Steve Spangler, a recurring guest on the Ellen show who teaches science. Mr. Spangler was so excited to hear from Madison that he called the school to thank her and sent her a box of goodies! Way to go Madison!

Annual Operation Homefront Toy Drive Nov. 14-Dec. 2 After an overwhelming response to last year’s toy drive for Arkansas military families, Operation Homefront has asked us once again to partner with them to brighten children’s Christmas. All toys collected will go to ARKANSAS children whose parents are currently serving our nation. Please donate only new, unopened/unwrapped toys for children ages preschool-18. Toys will be collected in 2nd period classes. 7th and 8th grade will compete for an IN-SCHOOL DANCE on December 16th..

More than 45 students went to Peebles Farm on October 17th after completing “Corn Mazes and Clues” readings and tasks. November/December Theme is “World War ll” There will be a field trip to the USS Razorback and MacArthur Military Museum in December.
