The first level is set to establish a sharing, learning and administrative environment, with bright, clean and open spaces.

SUSTAINABILITY

The integration of the Solar Photovoltaic Panels aims to reduce the Urban Rooms annual utility costs and to enhance Curzon Street Station’s energy efficiency.

This floor will contain a combination of permanent office space for MADE and temporary office space to let, with a shared kitchenette and toilets, alongside a media theatre to share ideas between professionals and engage with local people through scheduled seminars.

Birmingham’s Urban Room could seek to integrate a rainfall harvesting system in the future, if the temporary use becomes feasible enough to warrant the upfront expenditure.

These seminars could be held regularly addressing different topics and issues in Birmingham’s built environment in a planning, development and urban design context.

This energy efficiency system could help to further reduce Birmingham’s Urban Room annual utility costs and water wastage, at a time where Birmingham City Council (2014) are seeking to reduce water wastage across the city.

SITE LAYOUT

This engagement will help to bridge the professional-public relationship gap in planning and development, particularly with hard to reach members of the public who may not have access to the internet.
