Slinger High School & Hartford Union High School Present
7th ANNUAL Coaches Vs Cancer
FUNDRAISER GAME Slinger High School & Hartford Union High School are rivals on the football field, yet are committed to tackling cancer together at the 7th Annual Coaches vs. Cancer Fundraiser game event. SHS and HUHS team up each fall to raise money for the American Cancer Society’s Coaches Vs. Cancer Organization at the Slinger-Hartford Varsity football game. Slinger’s Coach Kevin Wilkinson initiated this event in 2011, as a means to raise funds to fight this terrible disease. Kevin was taken home on Nov. 27, 2011, but the battle continues for many. A traveling trophy was created to further earmark this event, and honor his love of the game. Last year, just one week after the CVC game, on Oct 21st, 2016, Darrell Redders, the father of Hartford’s head football coach John Redders, was also taken by Cancer. A decision was made to rename the trophy The Wilkinson - Redders memorial trophy, with a rededication at the game this year. It is in their memory, and all that have succumbed to cancer, continue to fight the fight, or are in remission. The traveling trophy will be presented to the winning team.
