D2CCA NCAA Division II South Central Regional Women’s Basketball Teams Released DURANGO, Colo. – Colorado Mesa’s senior guard Jaylyn Duran was named the D2CCA South Central Regional Women’s Basketball Player of the Year Thursday (Mar. 14). Duran, a 5-foot-7 guard from Pueblo, Colo., has started all 29 games this year and helped lead Colorado Mesa to both the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) regular season and tournament titles. The RMAC Player of the Year was also named to the First Team All-RMAC, along with taking home two RMAC Player of the Week honors and USBWA National Player of the Week accolade. The Mavericks all-time three-point leader, joined the 1,000-point club and led the RMAC in scoring averaging over 18 points per contest. Duran also broke the Colorado Mesa single game record for three-pointers in a game with nine. In addition to almost averaging 19 points per game, Duran averages 33 minutes per game, made 41 percent from the field, 34 percent from three, grabbed nearly three rebounds a game and has added 46 assists, 26 steals and three blocks in helping Colorado Mesa to a 26-3 record, a #19 national record and the No. 2 seed in the South Central Region. Duran was joined on the women’s all-region first-team by Lexy Hightower, West Texas A&M (Lone Star Conference Player of the Year), Addy Clift, Oklahoma Christian (Heartland Conference Player of the Year), Marquita Daniels, Angelo State (Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Year and First Team) and Mackenzie Hailey, Tarleton State (Lone Star Conference First Team) Sports information directors from NCAA Division II South Central Region schools and conferences selected the D2CCA all-region teams. The process concludes with All-American selections announced later in the month.
