There will be a student/staff volleyball tournament on February 26th at 6:15 p.m. Students interested in participating should form a team of up to 7 players, including one staff member. Form and permission slips can be found in the main office or with any PE teacher. Your team needs to be signed up by February 23rd. (W, F, W, F, M)
On March 3rd, all juniors will be taking the ACT at Mattoon High School.. Juniors will attend school in the morning and all other students will attend in the afternoon. This day counts toward your final exam exemption policy. You should have received paperwork in the mail about this and from your period 1 teacher. If you didn't get the letter and schedule, please ask your period 1 teacher. Bus students need to inform bus drivers about their transportation needs for that day. Juniors and staff will be served a free breakfast at 7:30 that morning before the test. Good luck to all MHS juniors! (T, Th through March 2)
Want to contribute to a worthy cause this Valentine's season? Donate a dollar towards FCS club's goal of $5000 by December of 2015 for the Mattoon Area PADS relocation and renovation project by purchasing a Crush Can from Mrs. Clifford, or any FCS club member, in the cafeteria during both lunch periods, starting Monday, February 9th through Thursday, February 12th. Remember that giving a little helps a lot!(W)
MHS students who qualified for movie day - please meet in the north gym at 8:15 a.m. We will load buses after taking attendance around 8:30 a.m. We should return to MHS by noon. You may stay and eat lunch or may leave upon your return to MHS. Attendance this day counts towards the final exam exemptions. (W, Th)
Any sophomore or junior student interested in taking a LLC morning speech or psychology class next year should sign-up on the windows outside Student Services. This class is a Lake Land class, not a dual credit and will cost approximately $300, payable to Lake Land College. The fall speech class meets from 7:00 to 7:50 M, W, F starting in August. Applications for the Child Care Occupations class are due this Friday to your counselor. See Mrs. Clifford with questions in room 309. (W, Th, F)
Are you an athlete or part of a club or organization here at MHS? Do you want some tips on how to become a better teammate, competitor and all-around athlete or participant? If you answered yes, then come to FCA this Thursday and every Thursday at 7:45 in room 109. We will have food and this week, a special speaker, a former MHS student, athlete, and friend, Luke Young. Bring a friend and get ready to be challenged! (W)
There will be a prom committee meeting tomorrow at 7:30 in the art room for all members. We need everyone to attend, so we hope to see you there!
There will be a Spanish Club meeting Tuesday, February 17 th, after school in room 115. Anyone who has ever been in a Spanish class is invited. (Th, F)
