What to do on a rainy day... By Peter Petersen, +45 20 20 15 35 Hopefully we will be able to fly every day during the contest. But - unfortunately the Danish whether can be rather unpredictable... A single day of rest is ok, but 2-3 days like "sitting ducks", is something quite different! In that situation you may wish to get away from the hang glider site for a little while and experience something else. You can do this on your one, but some of us may also wish to do it together. For inspiration, we have made this folder with various proposals.
Trolley-cycling:
Try a different kind of outing. Hire a trolley-cycle! The trolley-cycle tour is between Herborg and Skjern on the disused Skjern-Videbæk railway. The track is 13 Km (26 Km out and back). There are picnic areas alongside the track. Take a picnic basket width you and make it a experience to remember! Each trolley-cycle can carry 3 adults. Largest limestone mine in the world: A piece of Denmark’s history and an endless maze of mine tunnels. In Mønsted Kalkgruber there are more than 60 Km’s of underground paths. Some are as large as cathedrals and others are so narrow that a grown man cannot walk through them upright. 2 kilometres of pathway are electrically lit. From the main path which leads straight into the limestone mountain you can by means of a side path gain access to a very old cave system. Further down the main path you reach "Nonbos Cave" where people worked in the years around 1840. From this cave you have access to the deepest paths which lead to two lakes. Over the largest lake a multi-media show takes place every half hour, telling the history of the caves. The pictures and images are dramatically projected on the cave walls and water surface. Football Golf:
Gludsted Fodboldgolf. The course has 18 holes. The point of the game is to get your ball into all 18 holes in the least number of kicks. There is a big tent for picnicking and shelter. Climbing: Flemming Lauridsen is a member of Herning Klatreklub (Climbing Club), and can give us access to the facilities also outside ordinary opening hours. Furthermore he is a climbing instructor. Bouldering (see photo) is for everyone, but there is also facilities for the more experienced. Our use of the facilities depends on vacancy. Kayaking: Peter Petersen has 2 kayaks that can be borrowed. It is not high performance kayaks do, but they are robust, stable and easy to handle.

The nearby artificial lake, Kulsøen (Coal Lake), north of the hang glider site. The route is about 2 Km. Kayaking on the Coal Lake can also be done as an evening event, after flying e.g.!

The Gudenå river and lake system, from Ry to Himmelbjerget. Himmelbjerget (Sky Mountain) is the highest point in Denmark. This route is about 7 Km.

Aeroplane Museum: Visit Danmarks Flymuseum in Stauning. The museum is a 7600 m² large, modern and vibrant fly museum with 50 Danish and foreign aircraft from 1911 – 2000. Inter alia, gliders, vintage aircraft, fighter jets and helicopters. Zoo Safari:
Givskud Zoo is a safari park, so you can experience lots of animals from your car. Once you have closed your car windows and the sun-roof, you will be permitted to drive through a lock with double gates leading into the lions' territory... The Zoo is home to 70 different animals.
