PRESIDENT’S ADDRESS In his annual address the president detailed the national winds of change sweeping through the recreational game with leagues up and down the country now responding to feedback from player surveys and squaring up to the clear need to modernize and hopefully halt the drop in player numbers. He commended NYSD clubs on being leaders in their field, having ‘opted-in’ to the need for change over a decade ago by supporting significant reforms that the majority of other leagues are only now waking up to the need for. A different age, with different lifestyles and demands on players meant we must all try and address those differing needs and provide solutions which will protect the game, and despite the significant initiatives of the last 10 years the NYSD must not think it’s a case of ‘job done’. In Yorkshire the new Premier Leagues Championship is set to be launched in 2016, something the NYSD are very much part of. The exciting possibility for the leading Yorkshire club in the NYSD is a trip to Abu Dhabi in October 2016. On the home front the president was also able to announce the continuance of Darlington Building Society support into 2016 following an extremely positive renewal meeting with the Society. It had been an event packed 25th year in 2015 for the partnership, and thanks were given to the Society for their magnificent support. 2
