ABRA 24V Thermo-hydraulic Actuator

Applications:

internal end switch closes. The slow actuation of the valve is desirable to eliminate water hammering which is associated with quick acting valves. Features: • Compact • Low maintenance • 24V AC or DC power source • Low power consumption • Available in normally closed with end switch • Visual position indicator • Quick removal from valve Typical applications include: • Radiator, baseboard, or fin tube heating systems • Hydronic floor heating systems • Hot water service systems • Hot/ chilled water for air handlers • Low pressure steam systems

Danfoss’ ABRA style of actuator is a 24 volt AC or DC powered thermo-hydraulic actuator. When the ABRA is energized, an internal wax element gradually heats up opening the valve and when the actuator opens halfway, the

Installation:

Proper installation of the ABRA actuators should not be oriented upside down. The improper orientation of the thermo-wax actuator may result in susceptibility of short circuit due to potential leakage of water.

ABRA allowable orientation 1With a 2mm Allen key securely tighten the adapter ring to the RA2000 or RA-C valve.

2-

Position the electronic head over the adapter ring and push the actuator head down onto the adapter.

3-

click

Press the actuator head down until a click is heard. After mounting the actuator, apply 24Vac to the actuator for a minimum of 6 minutes to unlock the first open function of the actuator.

4To remove the actuator head press the button on the front and lift the head off the adapter ring.

If the ABRA is used on a low-pressure steam system, the orientation of the actuator should be in a horizontal position to ensure proper airflow across the actuator. If it is mounted

within an enclosure, proper airflow through the enclosure is essential to reduce the increased ambient air temperature’s influence on the thermo-wax actuator.
