Deadline for filing nominating petitions for candidate for election to the Board of Trustees of the New Rochelle Public Library. Petitions should be filed in the office of the School District Clerk of the Board of Education of the City School District of New Rochelle between the hours of 9 A.M. and 5 P.M. on or before the twentieth day preceding the day of the annual election. Petitions shall be signed by at least fifty-nine (59) qualified voters (Ref. Ed. Law § 260-8: at least twenty-five qualified voters of the library district, or 2% of the voters who voted in the last previous annual election of members of the library board of trustees, whichever is greater). The School District Clerk shall refuse to accept petitions signed by an insufficient number of qualified voters, or petitions which are not timely (Ed. Law §2608). Meeting of all qualified candidates nominated for election as member of the Board of Trustees of the New Rochelle Public Library with the School District Clerk to draw for position on the ballot. In the event that any candidate is not present in person or by a person designated in a written proxy to accomplish the drawing, the School District Clerk shall be authorized to act as proxy. Drawing will be conducted by the School District Clerk (Ed. Law § 2032[2-b]).
