To make the Date Night Bag, stitch two of the Going Crazy blocks and one Flap Block. Use the instructions that come with your Going Crazy design to make the two blocks and follow instructions located here for flap and purse construction. Complete fabric and thread requirements for bag is located below.

1.) Place neutral color embroidery thread in the needle and embroidery bobbin thread in the bobbin. Hoop Soft and Stable or Battilizer® in the hoop and stitch the pattern outline.
3.) Place embroidery thread in the needle only that matches Flap Fabric and sew the quilting stitches.
2.) Place 9” x 6” (6” x 4”) Flap Fabric right side up over the pattern. Using water soluble thread sew the tack down stitch.
4.) Place embroidery thread in the needle only that contrasts with Flap Fabric (If tone on tone look is desired, use thread from Step 3.) Sew the embroidery design.

5.) You probably can’t see the stitches in the drawing or picture unless you are Superman but you will place your tassel on the hoop, fringy part at top of hoop and loop part in the corner of the flap tip. A little piece of Wonder Tape works wonders. Leave enough of the loop above the stitches to be secured around the button. The machine will tack it to the flap.
6.) Place your second 9” x 6” (6” x 4”) piece of Flap Fabric right side down over flap and sew the seam.
Trimming Flap Block
Remove bag flap from hoop. Trim diagonal lines and sides of flap using the Trimmer By George!™ to remove Soft and Stable or Battilizer® only, leaving front and backing fabric in tact.
Trim fabric 1/4” from basting stitch on diagonal lines and sides.
Clip points, turn and press.

Baste across top of flap using water soluble thread (See purple line). Trim straight edge of flap using the Trimmer By George!™ to remove Soft and Stable or Battilizer® and fabric on back of flap. Trim fabric on front of flap 1/4” from basting stitch.
Trim block for bag FRONT 1/4” from basting stitch through all layers. Trim block for bag BACK using the EmbroidaBlock Trimmer By George!™ on top of block only, then trim top of block to 1/4” from basting stitch.. Trim 1/4” from basting stitch through all layers on three remaining sides. Outside of bag BACK

Put bag back and flap right sides together, centering flap inside 1/4” basting stitch on block. Sew together using 1/4” seam. Press seam to one side.

Cut 1 1/2” x 8” (5”) strip of fabric, press for sashing and cover raw edge between flap and bag back with sashing strip using Quilters Basting Glue or Wonder Tape to hold sashing strip in place. With monofilament thread in needle and bobbin, sew each side with serpentine or other decorative stitch.
Cut a 2 1/4” x 9” (6”) strip of fabric. Press in half lengthwise. Use this to bind the top half of bag front block. Trim binding even with block. Place bag front block right sides to bag back and flap and stitch together using 1/4” seam. Clip corners. Pin cording or use a piece of Wonder Tape to temporarily hold cording to bag to measure correct handle length. Using a zigzag or overcast stitch,, finish the raw edges of inside of bag encasing the cording. Turn bag right side out. Sew button in appropriate location on bag front so tassel loop fits over button to secure flap to bag. Make reservations! You are ready for Date Night! Enjoy!
