On June 4, 2010, the legislature passed SB 3513 and HB 2685 which made substantial changes in the laws governing utility district commissioners. This bill is now law and enacted as Public Chapter 1146. The requirements are:
TAUD offers classes that meet both the Initial Training requirements & Continuing Education requirements. A registration form is enclosed with this flyer. To attend Commissioners Training classes, please fill-out and submit the form along with payment as indicated. You may also register and pay online at www.taud.org.
Initial training and education New Commissioners - A new utility district commissioner must attend a minimum of 12 hours of commissioner training and education within one year of the initial appointment or election to the board of commissioners. Incumbent Commissioners - An incumbent utility district commissioner holding office on the effective date of this legislation must attend a minimum of 12 hours of commissioner training and education prior to or within one year of the reappointment or reelection. After receiving initial training, each commissioner shall attend a minimum of twelve (12) hours of continuing education (CE) every three years from their initial continuing education. The three year continuing education period begins January 1 after the year the commissioner completed or is required to complete the initial training and education requirements. Commissioner Training and Continuing Education will be paid for by the utility districts.
$150 for one, 6 hours session or $300 for two, 6 hour sessions (12 hours)
Class will start promptly at 2:00pm and end at 8:00pm. To receive the required 12 hours you must attend both classes.
There will be two classes July 27th & 28th.
Dinner will be provided at class.
