David and Goliath Take-Home Sheet for Parents What Your Child Learned this Week: When David was just a young man, a giant named Goliath challenged the Hebrew army. He taunted the soldiers and said that anyone who would fight him would achieve a victory for the whole army. All the soldiers were afraid to fight Goliath, but David was not. He faced Goliath with five smooth stones and a sling, and with God’s help, he won the battle. What I Can Do at Home With my Child: Practice this memory verse with your child: “David said, ‘The Lord who delivered me from the lion and the bear will deliver me from the giant.’”~ 1 Samuel 17: 36 Discuss these ideas with your child: What was the name of the giant that David fought? How many stones did David pick up to use in his sling? Who helped David to defeat the giant? Family Fun: The Bible says that Goliath was over nine feet tall. Measure out nine feet on a piece of butcher paper and draw a stick figure of a man on it. Tape your drawing against the wall to get an idea of how big Goliath really was. Isn’t God awesome to give David the courage to conquer such a giant?
