An Evening with the Harp and

David Watkins Friday 8th September 2017 at 7 pm

“David Watkins plays on the strings of the soul “ We are indeed privileged that we are to be entertained by local harpist David Watkins at Saint Melangells Church on Friday 8th September at 7pm. David has had a distinguished career both as a harp soloist and as a teacher, becoming a founder member of the new Welsh National Opera under the direction of James Lockhart, and after a short time with the Royal Philharmonic, joined the London Philharmonic Orchestra under the batons of Boult, Solti, Haitink and Tennestedt. His career as a composer took off with his ever-popular 'Petite Suite', which has been played all over the world, and recorded many times by the most brilliant of harpists. Other pieces which have been widely acclaimed include his 'Dance Suite', a 'Concertino Pastorale' which he premiered at the Royal Festival Hall, a recent solo Harp Concerto and a Concerto for two harps, which received its first performance in Budapest.

There are still a few places remaining for this not to be missed concert, so, if you have not already done so, ring or email St. Melangell Centre to reserve your seat. TICKETS
