September 13, 2016 Dear Parent(s): This letter is to inform you of the De Pere Youth Hockey Association’s team selection process for the Squirt through Bantam levels as well as other information related to tryouts. The team selection process will be similar to last year and will again be led by the De Pere Hockey Association’s Operations Committee. There will be only one selection process, for each age level, resulting in the selection of all teams for that age level. Therefore, all players for Squirt through Bantam levels must attend the sessions for their age level in order to be evaluated and placed on the appropriate team. The failure of your player(s) to attend all of the selection sessions scheduled for their particular age group may result in placement on a team below their individual skill level. 2016-2017 PRE-REGISTRATION Please be advised, all skaters MUST be registered with the Association and registration fees (including late fees) must be collected prior to tryouts. Skaters who have not registered or submitted their fees (current and any outstanding) will not be permitted on the ice for tryouts. You may register on the Association’s website at http://depere.pucksystems2.com/page/show/839079-registration. There will be no exceptions to this requirement. If you have any questions in this regard please contact the association’s registrar BEFORE tryouts. Mandatory attendance is required by at least one parent or guardian at one of the parent meetings scheduled on September 14th and September 15th. The meetings will start at 6:00 PM and will be held in the West De Pere High School auditorium. At this time, a tryout jersey will be issued. Please DO NOT switch jersey’s after they’ve been issued. Jerseys will not be available at tryouts. ABOUT THE TRYOUT PROCESS In response to the year-end surveys, we will be holding three weeks of warm up sessions. This will allow everyone the opportunity to "tune up" before tryouts begin. Players will be evaluated only during the tryout week. For each age level, there will be a player selection committee consisting of individuals who do not have a player at the level being evaluated. In the event the Operations Committee has selected any ‘A’ level coach(es) before tryouts, the coach(es) would be included as one of the evaluators for that level. Each on ice session will be coordinated by volunteers who have no involvement with the team selection. A member of the Operations Committee will be present at all evaluation/tryout sessions. The players born in “even” months will be assigned to group 1 and the players born in “odd” months will be assigned to group 2. Each player will skate with their assigned group for the first two sessions. The third night will be for all players. Your player(s) must attend only those sessions indicated by the month of their birth. The only exception to this is GOALIES. GOALIES should attend all of the sessions for their age group. If they want to be a full time goalie, they play both sessions as goalie. If they are a part time goalie, they skate for their session and play goalie for the other session. If you elect to play goalie please be solid with your choice, you and your child will be required to uphold the decision you make on the tryout form below. At the end of this letter is an evaluation/tryout registration form that must be completed. Your player(s) will have the option to try out for the ‘A’ team. Note the question asked on the tryout form and answer appropriately.
Please bring the completed registration form to the parent meeting. If you have multiple players please make the necessary copies of this form. Throughout the selection process, your player(s) will be referred to and identifiable to the selection committee only by the color of the jersey and their number. Therefore, each player must wear their assigned jersey at each session. Final results for the tryouts will be posted within 24 hours after the third and/or final tryout on the Association’s website (www.depereyouthhockey.org).
