Dear Parents and Carers, I would like to take this opportunity to ask your opinion on a system we at Oakfield would very much like to trial. Many of you will have heard of a ‘walking bus’, a group of children who are dropped off in the morning at a designated meeting point and are walked to school by an adult, either a member of staff or a volunteer parent. Not only are there the obvious health benefits of the children walking to school, rather than being driven, but this would also help to alleviate the congestion around the school premises each morning. We would like to begin with one walking bus from an area where most interest is shown, but, of course, could build on this to have walking buses from different locations around the local area. If you feel this is a service you might be interested in, please fill in the slip below and return to your child’s class teacher. Yours faithfully, Vicky Climpson
