Elective Selections (pg 6 Course Selection Guide) Once students have selected their pathway for English, Society & Environment, Mathematics and Science they need to select their electives. The number of electives students need to select will depend on two things: 1. Their pathway choice Extension or General and, 2. If they are a student in a Specialist Program. Electives are semester based courses. This is to provide students with the flexibility to study a wide breadth of subjects. Alternatively, students who would like to refine their choices can also do so, by electing to study a subject over two semesters. For example: If you would like to study Visual Art for both semesters you must select both 10ARTA and 10ARTB. If you would like to study Visual Art for only one semester please select 10ARTA. The table below is designed to help you and your child establish how many electives your child will need to select. In addition to the number of electives indicated, each student should also select 3 Reserve Electives.

The numbers in brackets indicate how many lessons for each subject are studied each week. There are 25 lessons a week in our timetable. GAT Dance students do not study the General Physical Education course. The Specialist ICT class will run as 4 lessons of SPICT per week in Semester 1 and 2 lessons of SPICT per week in Semester 2 (or vice versa dependent on staffing). Specialist Performing Arts students participate in one (1) lesson of the General Physical Education course per week. Courses will run based on student numbers and staffing availability. Students who select an A course eg. Visual Art 10VARA, may be timetabled in either Semester 1 or Semester 2 to this subject. Subject Costs are correct at time of printing, but are subject to CPI and appropriate increases as approved by the Hampton Senior High School Finance Committee.
