Anchors Away Winter 2015

Happy New Year 2014 was an excellent year for Delta Gamma and MGAA. Thank you to all who made the reorganization a success. Cheers to a "Do Good" 2015!

December Docking: Holiday Cookie Exchange Our "Holiday Cookie Exchange" hosted by Meghan Finney Usry was amazing. She had hot chocolate brewing and the aroma was lovely. As the six of us sat around the fire, we signed Christmas cards for our area collegians, shared stories and enjoyed each other's company. When the night ended, we gathered our cookies, hugged one another and headed to our homes. What a glamorous bunch of ladies, oh cookies. Thanks to everyone who could make it! Lastly, we collected 450 Campbell Education Labels for the Delta Gamma Center for Children with Visual Impairments in MO and 270 Box Tops for the GA Academy for the Blind in Macon. In attendance were Meghan Usry, Michelle Thompson, Valarie Ford, Jane Walker, Maggie Newberry, and Beverly Sutherlin (in order of group picture).

We are very close to our goals, 500 Campbell Labels for Education and 300 General Mills Box Tops for Education! Please help us and mail yours as soon as possible. We need to get ours in the mail as a group by the last week of January. Give them a quick snip so only the labels go into your envelope. "Do Good" Middle GA Alumnae! Then, if you don't mind, start saving for next year! If you already supply these to other organizations, we understand.

March Docking: Founder's Day Celebration Join us for our Founder's Day Celebration! We will gather and enjoy Membership! We are very excited to be meeting at Miss Hattie's in Bolingbroke, GA. We will remember our three founders of Delta Gamma: Anna Boyd Ellington, Eva Webb Dodd, and Mary Comfort Leonard. The trio grew up together in Kosciusko, Mississippi, attended the Lewis School in Oxford and founded Delta Gamma during a lonely Christmas holiday. Anna and Eva were first cousins and Anna and Mary shared the same birthday. Each of the three Founders was a woman of strong character and special talents. Our association will be honoring 25 and 50 year members at this event: Julie WebsterHoffman, Margaret Cohn-Newberry, and Margaret Williams. Please join us to make this an extremely memorable day for our sisters.

April Docking: MGAA 25th Anniversary Recognition and Senior Gift Packaging Join us to celebrate Sisterhood and help package the gift bags for the graduating seniors. You may notice a focus on being in contact with our collegians. In order to grow our association and one day become an alumnae chapter, we need be connected to our young sisters. They have so much to offer us in the way of tradition and enthusiasm. Sponsorship is another area they can help us support Delta Gamma. Collegians are our eyes and ears to high school young women headed to college. As we care for their needs, this prepares them for their transition to continue their connection with Delta Gamma wherever their lives take them. And, let's celebrate our 25th Anniversary with sweet treats as we work our gifts. We are thankful for those who originally began this association.
