Middletown Police Department is accepting applications to hire one (1) Delaware Certified Police Officer. Applicants must already be certified in Delaware and available for immediate employment with the Department to be eligible for consideration. Applicants must be United States citizens and must meet Delaware COPT Standards of Eligibility and the specific departmental requirements including, twenty-one (21) years of age, and 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university or two consecutive years of active military service with an honorable discharge. Applicants must be in possession of a valid Class D driver license or equivalent, and be of excellent moral character and physical strength. Weight should be proportionate to height; successful completion of a medical physical, drug test, fitness and psychological examination are required. Vision must not be less than 20/200 in each eye and correctable to 20/20 with contact lenses, in each eye, and must have the ability to distinguish between the colors of red, green and amber. A written examination is not required. An Oral Board Interview comprised of internal senior officers will select the candidates that will continue on in the process. Applicants that meet the screening eligibility requirements will be required to complete a “Police Candidate Questionnaire” in a timely manner. An extensive background investigation and other preemployment testing are required.
