Trevor has a long list of training that he has taken in pursing his fire career. He has his NFPA 1001, 1021, 1041 Level II, 1521, 472, and is a Safety Codes Officer. Trevor is also a member of the Fire Investigation Association of Alberta and the International Association of Arson Investigators. Trevor says he is “extremely proud to lead such a great group of dedicated firefighters whose common goal is to protect the communities in which they live”. When asked why he joined the fire service it was simple, “I enjoy serving the public, and I also feed off the adrenaline rush of when a call comes in. I enjoy the family atmosphere of the fire department members”. Kots most memorable moment in the fire service was when he, along with Duff and Straty made entry into a structure fire (apartment bldg) and pulled an unconscious victim out to safety. Trevor received the Firefighter of the Year Award in 2000, the Alberta Emergency Services Medal in 2002 and the Fire Services Exemplary Medal in 2011.
