FINISHING: Cut batting and backing 2˝ larger than top on all sides. Assemble the quilt “sandwich” by placing the backing, batting and top together in layers and baste or pin with safety pins. Machine quilt as desired. When machine quilting is completed, trim excess batting and backing. Bind in the usual manner.

For Block 2 sew triangle-square-triangle row to top of rectangle B. Next, add a 2 1/2˝ x 9 1/2˝ E strip, A 9.5˝W BLOCK then a 2 1/2˝ A strip to top of 3 2 rectangle unit. IMPORTANT: Continually refer to photo and diagram for correct color placement. This wallhanging consists of four blocks, sashing and borders. 1) Block 1 and Block 4: C C D D D D C Sew (8) C and (8) D triangles C together to make 4 squares. Sew together to make a row. For Block 1 sew to left side of BLOCK 1 12 1/2˝ center rectangle B. Set A 14.5˝W aside remaining four squares for 4 Block Four. C Next, add a 3 1/2˝ x 12 1/2˝ strip C D to bottom of unit. Add C B D 1 2 1/2˝ x 15 1/2˝ A strip to side C 12.5˝H 3 (Step 3). D Complete the block by adding C 2 1/2˝ x 14 1/2˝ strip A to top. D 2 L Add a 2 1/2˝ x 14 1/2˝ sashing strip A to bottom of unit. C 12.5˝W Set block aside. 5 L Block 4 is identical to Block 1 A 14.5˝W except the two side strips are cut and sewn in different order, and the last sashing strip is not added. Follow steps of diagram at left. BLOCK 4 You will need (2) A strips, one C 12.5˝W 2 1/2˝ x 17 1/2˝, the other 2 1/2˝ x 12 1/2˝. 2 D The C strip for this block is C 3 1/2˝ x 12 1/2˝. D B C 2) Block 2 and Block 3: 4 1 D Sew (4) C and (4) D triangles 12.5˝H C together. Using 3 1/2˝ C squares, D C create a unit as follows:
