Development Model The main pillar of The Program is development. In the previous pages, development in the classroom and the strength & conditioning element of the program have been covered very thoroughly. That said, each member who enters the Program is doing so because they have proven to our staff that they have exceptional talent on the ice. As a hockey program, we believe that no two players develop exactly the same way. In addition, we place a tremendous degree of resources into guiding and aiding the development of all members of the Program all 12 months of the season. WES CLARK, Director of Player Development Wes Clark was named the Hounds Director of Player Development in May of 2011 and was the very first hiring by GM Kyle Dubas. In his role with The Program, Wes Clark directly guides the development of all players drafted or added via free agency prior to their formal addition to the roster. Clark stays in weekly contact with each prospect and watches each prospect play live on numerous occasions throughout each season. Clark's experience in the development of present members of the program including Darnell Nurse, Tyler Ganly, Jared McCann, Kyle Jenkins, Michael bunting and David Miller among others. The development of said players shows his tremendous ability to maximize the development of each young man to give him the best possible chance to succeed once he is a part of our roster. Clark's development background as it pertains to skill development, strength & conditioning, and nutrition are unrivalled in the Ontario Hockey League. Along with his position with the Hounds, Wes is a lead on-ice and off-ice instructor with the Athlete Training Centre in Mississauga. He has built a tremendous reputation through his work with some of hockey’s brightest young stars including John Tavares, Matt Moulson, P.K. Subban, and Ryan Strome Clark joined the Hounds quickly after his own playing career. It was during the 2008-09 season he played professional hockey with the Phoenix Roadrunners and Johnstown Chiefs of the ECHL (East Coast Hockey League) while from 2004-05 thru 2007-08, Wes graduated with a B.Sc. in Business Management while playing at the University of Maine. With Maine, he was recognized as Dean’s List student as well as a Scholar Athlete for his strong academic performance. He also participated in 2 NCAA Frozen Four tournaments, and in his final season won the Leading Scorer and Unsung Hero Awards.

RICHARD ROTENBERG, Physiotherapist / Strength & Conditioning Co-Ordinator, Immediately following the OHL Priority Selection, or anytime a player enters our Program, one of the first calls a new draft pick will receive will be from Richard Rotenberg. As detailed in the strength & conditioning section, Rotenberg spends a tremendous amount of time all twelve months of the season to ensure that each player is abiding by proper strength & conditioning routines which will address various areas of weakness and prepare them to best have success with the Program. The Toronto, ON native holds a Master’s in Physiotherapy and Bachelors in Kinesiology along with certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist. He has served as the therapist for Team Ontario U17 the past two seasons.
